Below is are the biographies of the candidates:
President: Jon Archambeau, MS, CIH, CSP, CISEC Jon is currently the Vice President, Program Chair, & Website Administrator for the ASSP Hawaii chapter. He has been actively involved in health and safety organizations in Hawaii. Previously for the American Industrial Hygiene Association Hawaii chapter, he served as a Delegate, President Elect, President & Past President. Currently he is serving as a Treasurer for AIHA Hawaii. Mr. Archambeau is employed with Grace Pacific LLC. as the Safety Manager and focuses on the company’s asphalt production, construction, mining, and traffic control activities. Mr. Archambeau has been actively involved in implementing worksite safety and health programs for various companies in Hawaii since 2006. He received a Master’s of Science in Health and Safety with a specialization in Occupational Safety and Health Management from Indiana State University in 2013. He obtained his Certified Industrial Hygiene (CIH) designation in November 2021. He has held a CSP designation since 2016. He is a Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Plan Coordinator (ESCP) and a Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control (CISEC).
Vice President: Cesar Contreras, ASP, CHST Mr. Contreras began his safety career in 2011 as a Safety Technician and is now employed at Hensel Phelps as a Safety Manger. He grew up in Southern California and later served in The United States Marine Corps. After his military service he entered Honolulu Community College and graduated with an associate degree in Occupational and Environmental Safety Management, then went on to graduate from Columbia Southern University with a bachelor’s degree.
Treasurer: Traci Revilla, GSP, OHST Traci has been in the occupational safety & health field for 11 years and has previously worked at Hawaiian Electric and the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Environmental Health & Safety Office. She has a Master of Science degree from Eastern Kentucky University in Safety Security Emergency Management, a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Hawaii at Hilo in Natural Sciences, and an Associate of Science degree in Occupational Environmental Safety Management. Traci maintains a Graduate Safety Professional (GSP) and an Occupational Hygiene & Safety Technician (OHST) certification.
Delegate: Robert McCarthy, CSP, SMS, OHST, CSMP A native of Newport, Kentucky, Rob McCarthy began a diverse Naval career spanning 30 years, working hard and promoting from E-1 to O-4. He served in a variety of assignments to include Flight Deck Safety Coordinator and multiple aircraft Squadron Ground Safety Officer jobs. His last career posting was as Assistant Maintenance Officer of Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Light THREE SEVEN at MCBH Kaneohe Bay, while executing the responsibilities of leading 420 Officer and Enlisted personnel. Rob is a Lean Six Sigma Certified Black Belt from Villanova University, A Certified Thermographer for Thermal Imaging; A Certified Commercial and Residential Inspector with the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors; A Certified Mold Inspector with the International Association of Indoor Air Quality Consultants; and holds Hawaii Department of Health Asbestos Inspector and Asbestos Management Planner certifications. Rob holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Professional Aeronautics, and a Masters of Science degree in Occupational Safety Management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Rob is an Adjunct Professor for Embry-Riddle, and Columbia Southern University and regularly teaches undergraduate level safety courses and an Instructor for the University of California San Diego OSHA Training Department regularly teaching OSHA Courses. He is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Industrial Hygiene from Montana Technological University. Currently, Rob serves as the Safety Director at the Marine Corps Base Hawaii Safety Directorate. He is a CSP; SMS; OHST; Qualified Radiation Safety Officer (RSO); CPSI; and CSMP. Rob is a member of ASSE; IHMM; NRPA and Director of the local AIHA Chapter. Rob and his wife Minako reside in Hawaii Kai with their two children, Kyle and Emily and their two cats.
Member at Large: Adam Cotton, CSP, CHST Adam was born and raised in a small town called Cascade Montana. Cascade has about 700 people, zero stop lights, and one grocery store. After graduating high school, with 40 kids in his senior class, he went to college at Montana Tech on a scholarship to play football and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health. After college, he managed a YMCA fitness center, personal trainer, and an assistant college football coach. His safety career started a few years later in Phoenix Arizona with a civil contractor and a year later moved on to joining Hensel Phelps Construction Co. in Northern California. In 2012, he relocated to Hawaii and joined their Pacific Region division. Currently, Adam is the District Director of Safety & Health for Hensel Phelps and oversees their work in the Pacific Region.
Past President: Jeremy Nixon, CSP Jeremy Nixon served the US Air Force for 20 years. He enlisted as an Aircraft Armament Specialist and rotated through different maintenance, quality insurance, and instructor positions for ten years before cross training into as an Occupational Safety Professional. In 2019, he earned the National Safety Council’s Rising Star of Safety award. He retired from the Air Force in January 2021. With 12 years of experience as a safety professional, he currently works with Hensel Phelps Construction Company as a Safety Manager. Jeremy earned his Certified Safety Professional certification from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals in 2018. Additionally, he holds an associate degree in Safety and a bachelor degree of science in Management Studies with the University of Maryland Global Campus. Jeremy has been a member of ASSP since 2015.
