Armstrong Builders – Safety Manager

Armstrong Builders is looking for a reliable Safety Manager to ensure everyone in the company complies with health and safety laws. You will also be responsible for establishing policies that will create and maintain a safe workplace.

As a safety manager you must have excellent attention to detail to identify hazards. You will also be able to discover opportunities for improving conditions and execute various safety programs. The ability to communicate guidelines to a multidisciplinary workforce is essential.

The goal is to ensure the workplace meets all legal expectations and actively supports occupational health and safety.


  • Proven experience as safety manager
  • Deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines
  • Ability in producing reports and developing relevant policies
  • Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment
  • Excellent organizational and motivational skills
  • Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
  • BSc/BA in safety management or relevant field is preferred
  • Valid qualification in occupational health and safety

Safety Manager responsibilities include:

  • Developing and executing health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines
  • Preparing and enforcing policies to establish a culture of health and safety
  • Serve as a technical adviser on all project safety and health matters to the owner, construction manager, general contractor, and all subcontractors.
  • Administer the Armstrong Rolling Wrap-up Insurance Program (ARWIP) substance abuse program, especially to maximize compliance with requirements for pre-assignment, periodic, and reasonable suspicion drug testing.
  • Provide necessary training resources and support to the general contractor and all subcontractors.
  • Assist the general contractor and all subcontractors in compliance with project specific safety and health program and all other applicable safety, health and environmental requirements
  • Establish and implement effective emergency procedures to, coordinate, direct and manage the situation in the event of accidents, near-miss accidents, and significant environmental incidents
  • Conduct safety, health and environmental audits of field operations, and advise the owner on technical adequacy and compliance with applicable federal, state, local and contractual requirements.
  • Compile and distribute statistical reports on safety performance, accident costs and fines.
  • Monitor, coordinate and leverage the benefits of all available risk control activities of the general contract, subcontractors, consultants, brokers, and insurance companies.
