The presentation focuses on the essential aspects of construction formwork and fall protection, emphasizing the concept of ETCHY (Energy That Can Hurt You). Throughout the session, participants will gain a basic understanding of the components of a concrete formwork system and the associated fall hazards.
The key objectives of the presentation include introducing safety professionals to the fundamental components and terminology of formwork systems. Additionally, the presentation aims to raise awareness about major energy sources that pose risks to employees engaged in formwork installation.
Participants will be equipped to identify unique fall hazards within the formwork process. The discussion will extend to exploring practical solutions and industry best practices aimed at mitigating fall hazards. This presentation will provide safety professionals with valuable insights and knowledge essential for enhancing safety measures in construction environments, and in enviroments with fall risks and exposures.
Mr. Tristan Aldeguer brings over 23 years of expertise in Occupational Safety and Health, specializing in construction safety. Holding a Degree in Occupational Environmental Safety Management, he has earned the distinguished CSP and CHST designations from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. As an authorized OTI instructor with the University of California San Diego, Tristan has been a dedicated educator for a decade, facilitating various OSHA-numbered courses.
An unwavering advocate for workplace safety and health, Tristan extends his influence throughout the State of Hawaii and across the nation. He has demonstrated leadership by serving as Chair or President on multiple Boards and Committees, including past membership on the State of Hawaii Hoisting Machine Advisory Board (HMOAB), past Presidency of the American Society of Safety Professionals-Hawaii Chapter, Chair of the General Contractor Association of Hawaii Safety Committee (GCA), and Chairperson for the Hawaii OSHA Advisory Committee (HAC).
Currently serving as an Area Safety Manager with Hensel Phelps Construction, Tristan seamlessly combines his practical experience and educational background to foster a culture of safety. Beyond his professional commitments, he finds joy in traveling with his family and makes it a tradition to embark on his mandatory Alaska Fishing Trip each year in July.
