First Insurance Company of Hawaii is hiring a Risk Control Trainee to Technical Specialist.
Position: Risk Control Trainee to Technical Specialist
Department: Risk & Safety Management
Supervisor: Supervisor, RSM
*This position is located on the island of Oahu and candidates must work in the state of Hawaii upon hire*
Typical Duties Include But Are Not Limited To:
Risk Control Trainee:
- Provides support to the Risk Control Consultant.
- Works with the Senior Associate on projects relating to customer service.
- Assigned smaller, less complex customers to complete transactional services such as through emails and phone calls. These services may include providing safety recommendations through our FICOHTech products, such as Safety Source, vehicle telematics, and water sensors based on loss trends and applicable safety regulations. Additional responsibilities include regulatory research for specific questions, creating loss analysis reports for customers, and coordinating and attending remote safety meetings.
- Conducting hazard and exposure evaluations for customers as well as developing a sound action plan to address exposures.
- Enroll in training courses as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Risk Control Representative, Risk Contral Consultant and Senior Risk Control Consultant: (along with above duties)
- Provides consultation and solutions for small, medium and large, and/or highly complex accounts. Identifies exposures and assists in implementing appropriate controls. Maintains positive producer relationships achieving a high level of communication, including agency calls and presentations.
- Conduct detailed risk surveys, including for prospects and challenging accounts, to assess insurability, while also promoting FICOH’s unique value through our prevention strategies and cost containment services.
- Able to present our Risk & Safety Management strategies and approach our customers. Expected to provide specific training and education sessions to address loss leaders and drivers as well as other technical topics.
- Have a strong understanding of our RSM products and resources, enabling consultants to provide superior service to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Provides value added services including but not limited to high quality Loss Analysis to identify Loss Leaders and Drivers and Loss Sources.
Technical Specialist (along with above duties)
- Serves as a lead and departmental resources on complex safety, risk management, and insurance matters
- The department’s lead technical resources for safety; including the use of specialized safety equipment, advanced safety management concepts, and the ability to engage in high level discussions and presentations with officers, business owners, and etc.
- Assists with mentoring teammates in fostering talent development and ensuring knowledge transfer.
Qualifications / Experience:
Risk Control Trainee:
- 4 years college degree or equivalent safety related work experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to organize data effectively
- Able to make quality presentations to customers
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Possess Hawaii Driver’s License with clean driving abstract and usage of own personal automobile
Risk Control Representative (along with above qualifications):
- Minimum of 1+ years of safety, risk management or related experience
Risk Control Consultant (along with above qualifications):
- Minimum of 3+ years of safety, risk management or related experience
Senior Risk Control Consultant:
- Minimum of 5+ years of safety, risk management or related experience
Technical Specialist:
- Minimum of 10+ years of safety, risk management or related experience
- Minimum of 1 year serving as an informal team leader or lead with some formal supervisory responsibilities such as task delegation and follow-up, coaching and developing, etc.
Qualifications Preferred:
- Safety related certifications form BCSP, ASSP, NSC or similar institutions
- Insurance related certifications
- Successful completion of a Safety Related Degree/Program
Special Circumstances:
- May require travel to outer islands to service customers
- Periodic non-standard work hours to meet customers’ needs and schedules
- A proper working vehicle
Salary:
$56,300 to $118,200 annually
