This award recognizes ASSP HI members for outstanding contributions and performance to their workplace and community. The winner of this award will represent ASSP HI as the Safety Professional of the Year nominee for ASSP Region I.
Eligibility and Selection
- Nominees should be among the last four Safety Professional Quarterly Award winners.
- Not have received this award within the past five (5) years.
- The selection committee will evaluate each nomination on the following criteria over the past five years:
- Demonstrated technical expertise in the broad field of OSH and a thorough knowledge of the operational aspects of their OSH employment.
- Been involved in Society, Council, Region, or Community (Chapter, Practice Specialty, Common Interest Group) activities, including acting as a committee or task force chair, serving as an officer and/or project director, performing services to members, providing educational value through webinars, sessions, courses, etc.
- Made professional contributions to advance the OSH profession, such as fostering professional development, public/community services, instructing at educational institutions, influencing codes and legislation, writing articles, working with allied groups, etc.
- Received awards, including citations, honors, and plaques for innovations in new procedures or systems developed.
- Shown leadership in establishing, maintaining, and improving OSH-related technical processes at the work site and/or for the Society.
- Made other personal achievements related to occupational safety and health.
- Activities related to local community involvement, social responsibility, sustainability, etc.
Presentation
- Successful nominations will be recognized at the ASSP HI Chapter General Membership meeting with a certificate of recognition. The SPY winners will also be recognized at the Pac Rim Safety Conference and presented with a trophy.
- Nominee attendance is required, and supervisor attendance is strongly encouraged.
