Topic Safety and Security in Hawaii’s Hotel and Visitor Industry

Did you know that Hawaii’s Hospitality and Leisure industry accounted for the second largest number of jobs in the State (18.76%), second only to government jobs (19.67%) in 2024? And are you aware of the important role the Hawaii Hotel Visitor Industry Security Association (HHVISA) plays in worker safety as well as visitor safety?

The Hawaii Hotel Visitor Industry Security Association (HHVISA) works closely with hospitality partners and law enforcement agencies to address evolving security challenges in Hawaii’s tourism industry. This presentation will cover the close partnerships between law enforcement and Hawaii’s hotel industry.

Learn about how safety and security intersect to provide for a safe experience for visitors while keeping the workforce safe. Examples of effective partnering will be presented along with some recent case studies.

Speaker Jerry Dolak, Director of Safety and Security, Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort & President, Hawaii Hotel & Visitor Industry Security Association

Jerry Dolak leads the Safety and Security team at Hilton Hawaiian Village, where he is responsible for overseeing and implementing all safety and security programs to protect guests and team members across the resort.

In addition to his role at the resort, Jerry serves as President of the Hawaii Hotel & Visitor Industry Security Association (HHVISA), a collaborative network of tourism industry security professionals and law enforcement partners at the local, state, and federal levels. He is also a Board Member of the State Board of Private Detectives and Guards and holds the Certified Protection Professional (CPP) credential—recognized globally as the gold standard in security management.
